Shot List

1) Extended extreme close up of protagonists eyes, this is intended to be representational of the eyes being the window to the soul.

2) Midlevel shot of party scene framing the protagonist. In this shot the audience will see the protagonist amongst his peers in a party, the shot is intended to portray his growing sense of isolation even in a room full of people. The viewer is also intended to feel that the protagonist is not comfortable in his surroundings which is a theme that I intend to carry throughout the film.

3) High angle shot of party scene, this is intended to create a feeling of being a fly on the wall for the audience which adds to the uncomfortable feeling of the shot.

4) close ups of key characters that reoccur throughout the film, this will create a connection between the beginning and end of the film as one girl who is shown in the close ups does not reappear until the end. This also acts as a method of introducing the key characters that will be seen throughout the film.

5) Return to the high angle shot of party scene. Characters are all dancing and focusing on having a good time however, none of them are really communicating or dancing with one another, this acts as a representation for their everyday lives being spent focusing only on themselves and making sure that they have a good time.

6) Midlevel shot of protagonist amongst his peers dancing if possible I would like their to be a suggestion of drug abuse within this scene, I intend to achieve this through his erratic dancing and appearance of being disconnected form his surroundings. I will also show this through filming the shot in and out of focus in order to represent his state of mind.

7) Shot of protagonist and one of the partygoers walking down the street, I may reverse the shot so that they are walking backwards in order to suggest that we are going back in time before the party and also to aid in the conveyance of repetitiveness within the lives of the friendship group.

8) POV hand held shot from the protagonists perspective of a couple previously seen at the party kissing down an alleyway under a streetlamp, I intend to keep this shot quite murky in order to contrast with the bright lights and busy atmosphere in the party scene in order to show the aftermath however, if I reverse the previous shot this shot will also be reversed in order to maintain continuity.

9) Mid level shot of protagonist and female leaving the house of if I continue reversing the shots entering the house.

10) Close up of girls face as she closes the door.

11) Cut to establishing shot of bedroom which is maintained as the viewer once again feels like a fly on the wall watching the typical night in for a group of friends. I intend this shot to be bright in order to represent an equilibrium and to show that they are all content. In order to get the best from my actors when filming these shots I will place the camera somewhere out of view and film for an extended period of time in order to get the most naturalistic shots possible.

12) Cut to a montage of shots from various points in the night of characters laughing and smiling in order to further emphasis the happy atmosphere.

13) Mid level shot of protagonist leaving the room looking tired and concerned this marks the beginning of the downward spiral as now the audience is able to see the way that he acts when he is on his own.

14) Cross to midlevel shot of protagonist sitting in a chair in his family home, he then puts his head in his hands in despair which shows that he is unhappy with his life and perhaps the way that it affects his family life.

15) Cross to shots of protagonist dancing once again at a party setting which may be interpreted as the same party or a different one, he looks happy now which suggests he is partying for escapism, there is once again the suggestion of drug use.

16) Cut to mid level shot of protagonist sitting down in his friends bedroom again I intend to dim down this shot to create a strong contrast between the brightness of the party scenes and the boring flatness of the aftermath.

17) Pan of bedroom showing the group in a state of discontent as they all lie around in various positions not communicating or relating to each other.

18) Montage of shots both mid level and close ups of friendship group around bedroom, these shots are intended to run parallel to the previous shots in which the tone of the setting is cheerful and optimistic however, these shots depict a sense of solemnity and disappointment which suggests that this scene is the aftermath of the party.

19) Mid level shot of protagonist leaning against a wall down an alleyway, this shows that he has now left his house and bridges the gap between him being in the house with his group of friends to him returning home to his family life. His body position is very dejected and as he leans against the wall the audience may interpret his physic as being quite weak which suggests that his lifestyle is taking its tole and also brings in the theme of drug abuse which runs throughout.

20) Mid level shot of protagonist about to light a cigarette, he then pauses and looks over to his right with a disheartened look on his face.

21) Close up of a picture of protagonist with his mother and sister, the close up of a photograph of the protagonist happy with his family explains why throughout the film we see him in such turmoil because his true self is in conflict with the person he is trying to be through his chosen social identity.

22)  Shot through the middle of the protagonists room as his mother appears to push him in anger during a fight, here the audience is able to see in concrete form how his selfish and hedonistic lifestyle is affecting his home life and the people who are most important to him.

23) Close up shot of protagonists face looking depressed and lost in thought.

24) Cut to close up of religious display on his dressing table, showing yet again that the protagonist is at odds with his conscience and is struggling to find his place in life.

25) low level shot of protagonist as he leaves his house and closes the door behind him, this is intended to be a representation of him closing the door on his life.

26) high angle shots of protagonist in different positions, he appears to be living in some kind of squat which is representational of how his life could not sink any lower and also suggests that he is paying some sort of penance for his behaviour. The audience is aware of his sense of isolation throughout and we are now able to see his feelings of isolation taking a concrete form as he has chosen to completely isolate himself.

27) midlevel shot of protagonist lying on the floor in a disturbed state of sleep, he is tossing and turning suggesting that he is having a nightmare.

28) Full length shot of girl who was previously seen at the party she has a gash on her face and is staring directly into the camera in a threatening way.

29) Zoom to extreme close up of girls face, her injury is not only intended to represent the protagonists state of unrest but it is also intended to represent what may have happened to the girl in real life as a result of her actions.

30) close up of female lead roles face looking directly into the camera with a very serious look on her face.

31) close up of girls face again however this time with the use of a black light to give her face a purple effect, her eyes are rolled back in her head and she is appearing to have a fit this also suggests what eventually happens to her after her continued excessive behaviour.

32) Mid level shot of protagonist back in the party looking directly into the camera with a concerned look on his face as everyone dances around him this is intended to be ambiguous, there is the suggestion that the entire film has come full circle and that the events following the party were envisioned by the protagonist as a means of protection for himself.

33) return to the original shot of the extreme close up of the protagonists eyes which again suggests the film has come full circle and acts as a moral for anyone who chooses to interpret the video in that way.
