1) Club setting – For the club setting I will be using my friends spare bedroom, it is small and perfectly square to give the scene an intimate but also quite claustrophobic feel which is appropriate when taking into account the protagonists unstable state of mind at this point. Having quite as small closed in ‘club’ will add to the almost uncomfortable feel of the scene. I will obviously use blacks and lighting in order to give the room a club like feel.
2) Alleyway – Because my film delves into the murky underworld of a group of friends whose only purpose is to lead a hedonistic lifestyle, most of which occurs at night, I have chosen to set some of my shots down alleyways, this combined with the stark and dingy street lights which line my chosen alleyway, will add to the feeling that the group to a certain extent hides themselves away from normal society and metaphorically have chosen a path for themselves in life that is not particularly safe.
3) Bedroom – For the bedsit that the group spends their free time in I have chosen another friends bedroom, it is perfect for my film because it has a dingy and slightly rough feel to it which will help me achieve the dirty and desolate feeling that I want to portray when the friends are all sitting together in the room. The bedroom is also quite small which again allows for a claustrophobic feel.
4) Protagonists home – To represent the protagonists living room I will be using my living room and will add particular emphasis to an antique leather chair, I intend to use my living room because the lighting is very warm as are the colours in the room which provides as noticeable contrast to that of any previous scenes, this contrast allows the audience to really see that the protagonist is leading a split life. The leather chair being of some value also adds contrast to the cheap and tatty furniture in other scenes; this will give the audience an insight into the protagonist’s background.
5) Protagonists bedroom – For the protagonists bedroom I have chosen to use my brothers room, it is mostly untidy however, it is brightly coloured with posters up on the wall and is clean which contrasts with the drab and dirty appearance of the friends bedroom, this represents the difference in character and shows how the protagonists is different inside and out from his group of friends.
6) Cellar – For the cellar scene we will be using a section of my cellar, my cellar is perfect for this scene because it is incredibly dingy and dirty and will translate into a squat very well. It also acts as a representation of the protagonist’s final desolate state of mind.
