The third magazine advertisement that I have chosen to analyse is an advertisement for “The crystal axis” by Midnight Juggernauts.
The first persuasive element that is instantly recognisable is the colour scheme, which has been deliberately chosen in order to correspond with that of the CD cover; this sense of continuity adds to the persuasiveness of the advertisement because the potential buyer will remember the advert when they see the CD in a shop.
The actual colours themselves however, clash with each other and this allows the important parts of the text to stand out and create more of an impact.
There is not a picture of the band which differs from the other advertisements somewhat, this has a number of connotations about the band; possibly that they aren’t interesting in portraying an image, but wish the music to speak for itself or that they are not particularly well known and recognisable.
The main image on the page is that of the CD cover this appears to be a common feature of advertisements because it is important to display the product that you are selling.
The background of the advertisement is a faded and zoomed in copy of the image on the CD cover, this again reinforces the image to the consumer.
There are lists of some of the more popular singles included on the album and this is then followed by reviews of the album itself:
“A perfect slice of dance floor – filling Electronica”
This not only serves the purpose of advertising and praising the album but also indicates the genre which instantly establishes the target audience.
