The second advertisement that I have chosen to analyse is an advert for “Harmonic motion” by Lange and there is a noticeable contrast between this and the previous advertisement. The structure and key features are much simpler which suggests the artist is more widely known and does not need a bright and eye catching page to attract attention. The name is displayed to the right hand side of the image in large writing suggesting that this is intended to be one of the biggest attractions to the page.
There is not as much information about the artist which again suggests he is more well known, but for those who are unsure of who he is it is explained to them in the bottom right hand corner where he is described as
“One of the most influential dance artists of the last decade”
This widely broadens his appeal by creating the impression that he has longevity and also suggests to those who are not familiar with him, that they are missing out. Below this paragraph is a list of the popular songs to be found on the album, this is to ensure that those who do not necessarily know the artist may be familiar with some of his songs and may be able to access him that way.
The choice of colours are very muted and pastel, these have a calming effect and may be intended to represent the effect that the album is intended to have on the listener. This corresponds well with the title of the CD “Harmonic motion”, the backdrop of the picture resembles the ocean and once again there appears to be a parallel between the genre of music and the elements.
This is further emphasised by the main image on the advertisement, this being a photographic image of the DJ, he is poised in a thoughtful position and is gazing into the distance with a calm expression on his face, this is again intended to represent him as a person and also his music style to the consumer.
The other predominant image on the page is that of the album cover that is being released, the colours contrast slightly with the palette of the main advertisement allowing it to stand out from the rest of the page however; the font type on the album cover matches that of the advertisement, this creates a parallel between the two and therefore, when the target audience sees the album again they will be reminded of the advert.
